This academic year witnessed over 45,000 students obtaining their ATAR scores, averaging at 69.31 for the 2023 cohort, a slight decline from the previous year's 70.33. Despite this, the year showcased an unprecedented number of exceptional results and perfect scores among the VCE students. Here's a glimpse into the achievements of top-performing schools across Victoria.
The median ATAR for the state stands at 76.55, with 7.1% of Victorian students achieving a remarkable ATAR of 90% or higher. Notably, a group of 39 students, comprising 30 males and nine females, secured the highest possible VCE rank of 99.95.
A breakdown reveals the distribution of these exceptional students across various Victorian schools. Ballarat Clarendon College leads the state with 19 students achieving an ATAR of 99 or above (11% of the cohort), while 116 students (70% of the cohort) obtained an ATAR of 90 or higher, positioning them in the top 10% of the state. Similarly, Bialik College, Huntingtower School, and Mount Scopus Memorial College achieved commendable results, securing their positions among the top-performing institutions.
School-specific achievements showcase remarkable performances: Scotch College, Haileybury College, Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School, Melbourne Grammar School, Korowa Anglican Girls’ School, Fintona Girls’ School, St Catherine's School, and Caulfield Grammar School, among others, attained notable ATAR scores, showcasing the diverse academic prowess across different institutions.
